Find out how the project “Improving access to medical abortion services through telemedicine in Kyrgyzstan” is progressing. Project launched in collaboration with RHTC

We are proud to have good news from Kyrgyzstan from our colleague Baktygul Bozgorpoev. She updated us on the progress of the pilot project in Kyrgyzstan: “Improving access to medical abortion services through telemedicine in Kyrgyzstan”.

To date, 50 women in Bishkek (20 women) and Jalal-Abad (30 women) have utilized medical abortion services via telemedicine.Medabon was delivered by courier to 21 women, in 18 cases it was picked up in person and in 11 cases it was passed on through relatives. Our trained counselors noted that women emphasized that telemedicine abortion did not violate their privacy rights. They did not have to wait in line to see a doctor, take time off work, or find a babysitter for the visit.

Our colleague Baktygul Bozgorpoeva mentioned that she will also inform us about the progress of the next phase of the project. This project is implemented in partnership with RHTC, with the support of Grand Challenges Canada.

RHTC Director, Rodica Komendant, regularly makes working visits to Kyrgyzstan to provide information support and professional assistance in the implementation of the project, so the fact that they all work in the same team is a clear confirmation that a positive outcome of the project is guaranteed.

We wish our colleagues in Kyrgyzstan further success and are confident that together we can achieve positive changes in the field of reproductive health and reproductive rights.
