At the invitation of Renew Europe, the Abortion Dream Team appeared today in the European Parliament to talk about the reality of abortion care in Poland.
As part of the “Sexual and reproductive rights at stake” panel, Justyna talked not only about the daily work of ADT and Abortion Without Borders since the ruling of the Constitutional Tribunal, but also about the conditions under which we operate because of anti-abortion restrictions – those from 2020 and those from 1993.
Presenting the dramatic situation of Polish abortion activists, Justyna also pointed out that all European legislation is behind in terms of scientific knowledge and WHO recommendations.
Justyna Wydrzyńska:
“Abortion cannot be part of a political game. Abortion law cannot be created by auctioning off strict, specific situations that the law will allow. Such auctions of “exceptional situations” are sometimes won by progressive parties, sometimes by religious fanatics – but always, always, it’s an auction that women will loose.”
For providing these safe pills to another woman, Justyna has been put on trial. She faces 3 years in prison – just for wanting to help a person be able to decide on their own reproductive health.
The next (fifth) trial of Justyna will take place on February 6 in the court at Poligonowa in Warsaw.
