On November 24-26, 2021, a training of trainers on safe abortion for educational professionals was organized in Baku, Azerbaijan by the Scientific Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Azerbaijan in partnership with the Regional Training Center (RTC) and DKT WomanCare Global. The training was facilitated by Rodica Comendant, RTC Director, and Gulnara Rzayeva, Head of Ambulatory Diagnostic Department at the Scientific Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Azerbaijan. As a result of the training, 30 educational professionals improved their knowledge and skills related to the provision of manual vacuum aspiration and medical abortion and are now better equipped to transmit these skills to their students.
This training represents an important component in the implementation of the National Clinical Protocol for Safe Abortion of Azerbaijan, approved by the Ministry of Health earlier this year.
The organization of the training of trainers was supported by the Safe Abortion Action Fund as part of the RTC-coordinated project “Bringing the WHO recommendations on safe abortion closer to women, in countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, by supporting the development of national clinical guidelines and protocols on unwanted pregnancy.”
